Hero Sprint Club: Athlete Code of Conduct
Honesty - live and compete honorably; don't lie, cheat, steal or engage in any other dishonest or unsportsmanlike conduct. Reliability - fulfill commitments; do what I say I will do; be on time to practices and games. Loyalty - be loyal to my team put the team above personal glory.
Attendance – It is not reasonable to expect athletes to excel without consistently attending practice. Athletes are expected to make it to practice on time in order to properly stretch and warm up. Tardiness, early departure or absence must be communicated with a member of the coaching staff with reasonable notice. If aware of potential scheduling conflicts, please advise the staff, prior to the start of the season. If at all possible, we request to be notified of abrupt situations with at least a 2 day notice. Athletes will need to
take responsibility for arranging their transportation or adequately communicate arrangements
with their guardian.
Absence - Athletes are expected to be present at all practices;
Early Departure - Early departures before completing the assigned workout is not permitted. If
there is a reason for you to leave early, we just ask that it is communicated to a
Coach.
Workout Coordination – If the athlete is engaged or plan to engage in any additional athletic
training (School, personal training, etc.), they are required to notify a member of the coaching
staff in advance. The athlete is required to document and provide each individual workout to
their coach. HSC is wholly committed to the safety of our athletes.
Dress Expectations – Athletes are expected to wear athletic clothing and running shoes.
Prohibited clothing would be jeans, halter tops for ladies and other non athletic; casual gear.
Wearing the proper footwear is essential. Therefore, non-running shoes will not be permitted.
HSC coaching staff has the discretion to advise an athlete that their attire is
not appropriate.
Inappropriate/Disruptive Behavior– this involves the use of profanity, talking back to an adult
disrespectfully, and refusal to do an exercise. This will be to the discretion of the coaching staff.
All Athletes are expected to act in a sportsmanlike manner consistent with the spirit of fair play
and responsible conduct toward coaches, officials, fellow competitors, volunteers, and the
public. The staff will consult with athletes and use certain situations as character coaching
opportunities.
For all of the above situations, the following progression of discipline will be applied.
- 1st Offense – Verbal Consultation
- 2nd Offense – Written Documentation & Athlete Signature
- 3rd Offense –Conference & Parent Notification
- 4th Offense – 1 week probation or end of track season
Zero Tolerance Offenses
The following will result in the immediate dismissal from the team:
Fighting – Fighting is never something that has occurred. If you feel tension growing
with a peer, let a member of the coaching staff know immediately. There is never a
situation where a physical altercation is necessary or acceptable.
Stealing – If there is a situation that occur
Bullying/Stalking/Intimidation/Harassment - Hero Sprint Club is committed to a
safe environment for all athletes that is free from harassment, intimidation or bullying.
“Harassment, intimidation or bullying” means any intentionally written message or
image — including those that are electronically transmitted — verbal, or physical act,
including but not limited to one shown to be motivated by race, color, religion, ancestry,
national origin, gender, sexual orientation including gender expression or identity,
mental or physical disability or other distinguishing characteristics.
Use of Possession of Alcohol/Drugs - The use, possession, solicitation for, or sale of
narcotics or other illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication without a
prescription. This includes being impaired or under the influence of legal or illegal drugs
or alcohol away from the competition times. Possession, use, solicitation for, or sale of
legal or illegal drugs or alcohol away from the times of competition. This does include
the use, sale, or possession of marijuana.
Sexual Misconduct or Harassment – No athlete or staff member of the Hero Sprint Club shall be subjected to sexual misconduct. No athlete or staff member of the
Hero Sprint Club will be allowed to subject anyone else to sexual harassment.
Unwelcome actions such as the following are inappropriate and, depending on the
circumstances, may in and of themselves meet the definition of sexual harassment or
contribute to a hostile environment:

Sexual pranks, or repeated sexual teasing, jokes, or innuendo, in person or via email or social-media

Verbal abuse of a sexual nature;

Touching or grabbing of a sexual nature;

Repeatedly standing too close to or brushing up against a person;

Repeatedly asking a person to socialize during off-duty hours when the person has said no or has indicated he or she is not interested (supervisors in particular should be careful not to pressure their employees to socialize);

Repeatedly making sexually suggestive gestures;

Making or posting sexually demeaning or offensive pictures, cartoons or other materials in the workplace;
-
Off-duty, unwelcomed conduct of a sexual nature that affects the work environment.
Hero Sprint Club reserves the right to make updates and revisions to this document as needed. Any changes will result in written documentation and signature of the recipient.
